Gut Check and Keep on Trucking.

Where does your endurance come from when you need it most? Do you train in advance or muster up the stamina on call? I had a football coach who loved to make us play hard till he got tired. He would then say that the forth quarter is “Gut Check” time. The fourth quarter made all the sprints, drills, and practice worth it. We usually won or lost games in the fourth quarter based upon our mental toughness, physical conditioning, and teamwork.

A lot of people right now have jobs or careers on the brink. These times are definitely a Gut Check. Here are few tip to help:

1. Take a timeout: Go someplace to clear your mind. This needs to be a new place not the same old getaway. The new perspective will sharpen your senses and you may see an opening in the opposition.

2. A win is a win: You may have to take an ugly win. You need to score more points; every account, phone call, project, and hour on the job count. Do anything you can to put more into everything you do.

3. Throw the Hail Mary: Now is the time for a Hail Mary pass. Don’t wait till things are better or you are forced to make the pass. You need to be ready for the big play whenever the opportunity is there.

P.S. This post is dedicated to a group of people who work for a trucking company. I received word that the blog gets a little attention in office. (During off hours of course) Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the video.
