I recently watched a movie that explored the ability of the U.S. Government to do unspeakable things in pursuit of information. Then I reflected on my comments from To Kill a Mockingbird. How many horrible acts are allowed in light of clearly being wrong. There was time when things said in this video were supposedly true. I hope guilt, fear, and ignorance do not take over again.
Even if the main focus of our lives is to survive, please don’t turn a deaf ear to the inhumanities in the world. As a single person we cannot do much, but if enough people stand up things can change. The world is more connected than ever. However, in our very own cities there are tragedies happening every day. If each one reaches one, then a movement can be started. Take a proactive approach in your community and shed light on shameful events that may have stayed hidden.
