On the hunt or at least on the lookout.

In former communities I was somewhat a big deal. I was the guy on the pirate ship that yelled land ho! By no means was I a Captain and if you were another pirate you really did not give a darn. On my ship or community I had a place, purpose, and passion. Then once I started my business I was promoted to Captain. I did not get the message in the bottle that told me I needed to be on the hunt. I was the one responsible for everything most of all finding the buried treasure.

Long-term Decisions deserve some thought.

People tend to focus on the short-term and making choices from the short-term perspective has hidden opportunity cost for the long-term possibilities. Here are some thoughts on making long-term decisions.

-Does this decision conflict with my dominant personality?
If something competes with your inner compass the results will surely be diminished due to the excess energy used to keep yourself committed. Remember when you want to get that great deal on Black Friday and every year you sleep until 10:00 a.m. Why? Your not a morning person and a $900 dollar 60-inch plasma will not make a difference. Now when you go to buy it later it is going to cost twice as much.

Three (Four) Championship Rings are Unstoppable

Self promotion is hard for most people. This leads to problems when you or your service requires publicity. If the subject you know the most about, yourself, has yet to be fully matured in presentation then how can anything else be by comparison. If you have three (four) rings at some point they speak for you. Those of us with no rings better make sure people know what is so great about whatever it is we are promoting. The unstoppable point is you are always promoting something.

Giving them something to talk about

Over the past few weeks I watched the NBA Playoffs. In recent memory this was the best overall playoffs I have seen. The games were close, Denver almost went to the big one, and several players elevated their games. Even with the good basketball, the stand out for me was the Nike Basketball commercials featuring Lebron James and Kobe Bryant puppets.

Negotiation: Art, Skill, Talent, Science, & Luck

This is a gutsy all-in negotiation from the television show The Office. Everyday you have the opportunity to become a better negotiator. Get your game tight before crunch time and you will take the win. Try battling yourself in the mirror to become a more effective negotiator. Do you have the guts to lay it on the line?

P.S. If you have not noticed I like using The Office for examples. The show makes good points in a humorous way. And I think we all could laugh a little more;}

Sales can get personal.

We have all lost our fair share of friends and family business. Don’t take it personal because to some people it is “just business”. Always keep delivering value and most times the business will come back to you. All is not lost unless you do something irresponsible. Keep a smile and try not to make a big deal of it.

Don’t Flip Out…You Should’ve Known Better

I have felt this way before. 99% of the time things have a way of working out for the good. Whether you believe in karma, zen, God, or coincidence try not to flip out in the meantime. We all have that feeling of knowing something is not going well. Find a way to cope because somebody out there always has it worse. So have some fun and laugh.
