A land where you’re waited on hand and foot. Where everything is foreign, but instead of fear, you are excitedly curious. You’ve maybe dreamed of this place and time, but never thought you’d get there. In a land far, far away from Oz, is Macy’s. Not just the department store you frequent for mostly overpriced sweaters and polo’s. This “store” transforms into a land of opportunity!
Dorothy could have never dreamed up a land as wonderful as a “Macy’s Wedding Registry Event.” The concept of a registry has been around for years, and brides go on record saying that the registry may have been one of the most exciting parts of the wedding planning process. But you just never know, until you participate.
Steven was given a scan gun, and as we walked away from the ”Check-In” table he looked to me for direction. As I am a seasoned wedding planner, and closet perfectionist, he assumed I had a list already made up of which departments to go to, and what we’d be scanning. To his surprise, I hadn’t. I simply smiled and said “let’s start over here” and walked him towards the luggage. Not one to question my spontaneity, we proceeded.
PRO’S
- FREE FOOD and DRINKS! Registering during a store event means that you get free food and drinks as you choose what other people can buy you.
- Higher attendance. There are several brides around, so the sales people aren’t necessarily focused on you. This allows you to do your own thing, and spend that quality time with your fiance’.
- Brand Representation. Representatives of each company (i.e. All-Clad, Fiesta, Kitchenaide) are available to talk about the products they are specifically trained on.
- Free gifts! If you register for certain products, you get a FREE GIFT!
CON’S
- Higher attendance. You don’t get the individual attention that some people prefer.
That’s all I have for con’s…the event was way too much fun and I’m obviously bias, because I really didn’t find ANYTHING wrong with it.
Steven and I walked away having registered for over 75 items within the hour that we were there. We had a great night just spending time with each other. For once, a wedding planning venture that didn’t leave me tense and stressed. Throughout the next year, we plan on updating the registry and attending more and more “registry events.”
Words of wisdom: Don’t “plan” for the registry. Just “follow the yellow brick road.”
Till our next adventure…
